Songer, Macie Hedge

Macie Elizabeth Songer, age 93, of Gretna died Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center. She was born in Montgomery Co. Va. on July 28, 1921 to the late Barney Edmon and Bulah May Hundley Hedge. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Archie Reed Songer and a son William Reed Songer.

Macie lived most of her life in the Blacksburg area. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Mary Jane and Junior Owens, Gretna, Va., Sandra Hope Reed and friend Bucky, of Blacksburg, grandchildren, Alva Slusher, Angela Martin, William Reed Songer, Jr., Elizabeth Owens, Jonathan Owens, great-grandchildren, Kayla, Matthew, Lynn, Shawn, very special friend, Vicky Burton and Kelley Jones.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary McCoy officiating. Interment will follow in the Songer Family Cemetery, Craig Creek Rd. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm prior to the service. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
