Songer, Jack Donald

Jack Donald Songer, 69, of Blacksburg, and formerly of Newport, departed this life Tuesday morning, August 19, 2008, at Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg. Born in Giles County on September 30, 1938, he was a son of the late Edward L. and Mattie Sue Epling Songer. He was a tile setter by trade. He leaves to cherish his memory two sisters, Virginia S. Davis and her husband, Vivian, of Salem, and Lois S. Breeding, of Pembroke; three brothers, Daniel L. Songer and his wife, Jean ,of Colonial Heights, Eddie Songer, of Christiansburg, Mickel “Ike” Songer and his wife, Glenda, of Christiansburg; and a very special and long time friend, Pat Watkins, of Pembroke. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, August 21, 2008, in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
