Songer, Emmett Rudolph

Emmett Rudolph Songer, 86, of Alleghany Ave., Pearisburg, departed this life on Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg. Born in Narrows on January 27, 1946, he was a son of the late Emory Rudolph and Maggie Sue Saunders Songer. He had been employed at Ingram Furniture and Leas and McVitty Tannery. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Oda Whitt Songer; his sisters, Alberta Cumbee, Kathleen McCroskey, and Louise Dowdy; and his brother Emory Songer Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Barbara Dunn, of Pearisburg, and Sue Marshall and her husband, Glenn, of Pearisburg; his grandchildren, Kristie Johnson (Ben), Brian Dunn (Ashley), Greg Dunn, Matthew Marshall and Jessica Peoples (Tee); his great-grandchildren, Sierra Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Chandler Marshall, Ashton Dunn, Cameron Dunn; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2012, in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with burial following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the services.
