Snyder, Steven Neil

Steven Neil Snyder passed away suddenly on January 3, 2019 at his home in Pulaski, VA. He was born in Washington, DC on March 3, 1970 and was the son of Giles Raymond Snyder and the late Connie Hale Snyder.

He was preceded in death by his mother, his paternal grandparents, Howard and Grace Snyder, his maternal grandparents, Donna Fix and David Hale, and his cousin, Jeffrey H Morris.

He is survived by his wife, Sara Moody Snyder, their son, Seth, both of Pulaski, VA; his father Giles Snyder and stepmother Gina Krall, of Lake Wales, FL; his brother, David Snyder and partner Sharyl McGrew, of Oakland, CA; mother and father-in law, Barbara and Chip Moody, of Lynchburg, VA; Aunt Sue and Uncle Jeff Morris of Duncanville, TX; Cousins Wade and Ashley Morris and their children Mallory and Jackson, of Midlothian, TX; brother and sister-in-law Brian and Ryan Moody and their children, Ashby and Grant, of Goode, VA; Stepbrother Jim Krall of Ocean Pines, MD, stepsister Kim Krall of Salisbury, MD; stepbrother Dan Krall of Orlando, FL; Aunt Laddie and cousins Howdy, Kathy, Barry, Warren, and Diana; Aunt Janice and cousins Jeff, DeeDee, Deeanna, and Denise; and countless friends who were family to him.

Steve spent his entire career in the wholesale distribution business, first in the floral industry, then moving into fresh foods, and finally into specialized industrialized coatings.

He was fondly considered as a “best friend” to the vast majority of those who graduated with him from Potomac high School in Dumfries, VA in 1988. He was a youth league basketball coach at Graham Park Middle School from 1993-2000. An avid sports fan, Steve loved his Washington Redskins and Virginia Tech Hokies. He was a dedicated NASCAR fan, a SCUBA diver, an enthusiastic Parrothead, and lived life to the fullest. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends boating and relaxing on Smith Mountain Lake. His favorite moments were spent with his son, Seth.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 11 at 11:00 AM at the Bower Funeral Home Chapel, 1631 Bobwhite Blvd. Pulaski, VA 24301. A reception will immediately follow the service at Al’s on First in Pulaski, VA. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, January 10 from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Bower Funeral Home.
