Snyder, Gregory Owen

Gregory Owen Snyder, retired Air Force Senior Master Sergeant, died peacefully on May 20, 2018 in Blacksburg, Virginia at the age of 63.

Gregg is survived by his father William Snyder, step mother Jeanne Snyder, wife Debbie Snyder and children Bob Summers and Leah Ferguson. He was the loving and playful grandfather of Aria(3), Stephen(7) and Taylor(10).

Gregg was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to William and Hazel Snyder. He graduated from Park University in 2009 with a degree in Computer Science. He married Debbie Snyder in 1978. Gregg was an American patriot having served the US Air Force for 30 years. He was deployed around the world and supported various military operations including Desert Storm/Shield. Upon retirement he continued to serve, initially as an Air Force Cyber Security engineer at the Pentagon and finally holding a position at the Navy ROTC detachment at Virginia Tech. He was a Hokie. Gregg was a brother in Christ of the Fredericksburg Emmaus community.

A celebration of life is scheduled for May 24 at Blacksburg United Methodist Church, 111 Church Street in Blacksburg, Virginia at 11am. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Gregg’s life. A military ceremony will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later.
