Oscar Brown Snidow, 93, of Staffordsville, departed this life Monday afternoon, August 13, 2012, at Heritage Hall in Blacksburg after a long illness. Born in Giles County on October 27, 1918, he was a son of the late Oscar and Macie Johnston Snidow.

He was raised in the Methodist Faith, was a World War II Veteran, and was employed with Celanese for 42 years.

He was preceded in death by a son, John Snidow, his brother, Joe Snidow and his half-brothers, Ralph, Paul, and Flem Snidow. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 72 years Frances Woolridge Snidow; his son, Larry L. Snidow, of Pembroke; his daughter Nancy S. Trent, of Lynchburg; his brother and sister-in-law William and Ellen Snidow, of Pembroke; his daughter-in-law, Bonnie S. Snidow, of Staffordsville; his grandchildren, Tammy Quesenberry (Greg), of McCoy, Wendy Snidow, of Roanoke, Samantha Snidow, of Staffordsville, Diana Trent, of Lynchburg, Cheryl Croft (Bernie), of Goode; his great-grandchildren, Karrie Ann Quesenberry, David M. Quesenberry, and Ashley Croft.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2012, in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke, with Dr. Robert D. Wright and Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. and requests that food offerings be omitted.
