David (Big Dave) Chapman Snider, 51, of Christiansburg, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at this home.

Dave worked for the town of Christiansburg for thirty-two (32) years. He was known by many throughout the community. Big Dave was a model, all-star son, brother, uncle and friend. Dave loved his family and showed it by all he did for them. He especially cherished his time with his three nephews and their friends, to whom he also became an “uncle”. Dave was a devoted sports fan to the Hokies, Demons, Redskins and Braves.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roscoe Chapman Snider. He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Salyers Snider; his sister and brother-in-law, Juanita and Joseph Sutphin; his nephews and their families, Christopher Lee Snider, David Allen Keith and Amanda Tawney, all of Christiansburg and Donald Oliver and Stacy Tawney of Dublin and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2007, at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 7, 2007, in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Mr. Bob Bishop. Interment will follow in the Ross Cemetery, Craig County.
