Snell Sr., Max Albert

Max A. Snell, Sr. 71, of Christiansburg, peacefully closed his eyes and went home to be with his Heavenly Father, with his family by his side. He departed this life Saturday, September 1, 2007, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

Max was born in Radford, Virginia on April 18, 1936, to the late Evelyn Wyms. He retired from Lynchburg Foundry after 31 years of service. He was preceded in death by his son, Jack Snell; his mother, Evelyn Wyms; his grandmother, Gertrude H. Snell; five uncles; one aunt and one half brother.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 49 years, Beatrice Dolores Snell of Christiansburg; four sons, Ronald Snell of Christiansburg, Max Snell, Jr. (Jackie), Steven A. Snell (Ann) of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Donald W. Snell (Debbie) of Christiansburg; one daughter, Brenda Motley (Andre) of Christiansburg; three granddaughters, Daniella Motley, Courtney Snell and Erica Snell; four grandsons, Brenden Motley, Zachary Snell, Jaden Snell and Jordan Snell; three loving sisters, Lulabelle Lewis of Radford, Candy Adams of Charlotte, North Carolina, and an adopted sister, Kim Stewart of Radford; two loving brothers, Jack E. Snell (Vickie) of Charlotte, North Carolina and Walter Wyms of Roanoke; two half brothers, Tommy and Ed Lewis; one half sister, Carolyn Lewis; special aunts, Marion S. Wade (Bill) and Agnes Clark, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2007, at 2 p.m., at New Mount Olive Methodist Church, with Pastor Barbara Doyle officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow at Sunrise Burial Park in Fairlawn.
