John Winfield (Jack) Snead, Sr., 83, of Blacksburg (formerly of Midlothian, Virginia) died Thursday morning April 19, 2007 in Blacksburg Virginia.

Mr. Snead was born in McKinney, Virginia on February 17, 1924 to the late John Gordon Snead and Mary Louise Snead. He is survived by his wife Margaret Foote Snead; his children, Margie Munnelly of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Robin Russell and Janine Hiller of Blacksburg Virginia, and John Snead Jr. of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; grandchildren Travis and Amy Russell, Shannon, Erin and Daniel Hiller, Chris Munnelly, John III, Joshua and Nicholas Snead; and sisters Elizabeth S. Roberts and Nancy S. Winn.

Mr. Snead was a WW II veteran. He was Vice President of the New Holland division of Sperry Rand where he worked for 33 years. He was a proud Old Guard alumnus of Virginia Tech, Class of 1950, with a BS degree in Agricultural Economics, and post graduate studies at Ohio State, Columbia University, University of Wisconsin and University of Michigan. He loved his family, his church, his Virginia Tech Hokies and sports.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2007, at Christ Episcopal Church in Blacksburg, Virginia. Internment follows at Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg, Virginia. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
