Smithers, Drema Buckalew

Drema Delores Buckalew Smithers, age 81, of Christiansburg, passed away Friday, August 10, 2012, at Lewis Gale Montgomery Hospital. She was born August 20, 1930, in Charleston, W.Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Smithers; a son, Jamie Smithers; and a sister, Norma Hughes.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Johnny Martin; granddaughter and husband, Tracie and Rob Cook; grandson and wife, J.C. and Amelia Martin; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Shellie Cook; and one brother; Arthur Buckalew. Also surviving are her sorority sisters of the Virginia Alphi Mu Master of which she was a sixty year member.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 13, 2012, in the Mausoleum Chapel at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, with Rev Matthew Kirkland officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening at the Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg.

In lieu of flowers the family asked that memorial contributions be made to the Montgomery County Humane Society, PO Box 287, Blacksburg, VA 24060.
