She is survived by her husband, Timothy Smith; sons, William Carter of Astoria Queens, N.Y., and Timothy Smith, Jr. of Dover, Del.; daughters, Dorothy Carter of Christiansburg, Victoria Amaro of Maui, Hawaii, and Tamica West of Radford; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
