Smith, Sr., Roy Edward

Roy Edward Smith, Sr., age 79, passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at his home in Peterstown, WV. Born December 15, 1941, in Peterstown, WV, he was the son of the late Wilbur and Annie Pearl Thomas Smith.

Roy was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of the Lindside Christian Church, where he served as Church Board Secretary, Chairman of the Finance Committee, and was Deacon for over 40 years. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Ann Peck. Survivors include his loving wife, Ina Louise Hale Smith; three sons, Roy Edward Smith, Jr. and wife Mary of Peterstown, WV, Alvin Dean Smith and wife Paloma of Christiansburg, VA, and Calvin Gene Smith and wife Sabrina of Swoope, VA; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, June 25, 2021, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Terry Kornegay and Minister Randy Penwell officiating. Burial will follow at the Williams Cemetery on Green Valley Road in Peterstown, WV.
