Smith, Samuel Edward

Samuel Edward ‘Eddie’ Smith, of Christiansburg, born May 5, 1961, passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2018, surrounded by loving family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Turpin Simpkins; father, Samuel Howard Smith; father-in-law, Rudy Grissom; and very special companion, Heidi.

Eddie is survived by his wife of 14 years, Susan Grissom Smith; brothers and sisters, Bobby Simpkins, Bessie ‘Sissy’ Epperly, Chris Smith (Ruth), Penny Atkinson (Tim), Kim Bowyer (Jerry); special friends, Kenneth and Shirley Richardson, Wayne and Sherry Hunter; step-sons, Chris Dooley (Kendra) and Travis Dooley; grandchildren, Avery, Kaelynn, and Hunter; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Eddie was a long-time employee for the Town of Christiansburg, having worked for the Town for 39 years.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, from 5-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at 2 p.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Frankie Graham and Pastor Justin Quesenberry officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
