Smith, Sallie Orange

Sallie Myrtle Orange Smith, 98, of Blacksburg, died Saturday, June 25, 2016 at her home. She was born in Virginia on April 4, 1918 to the late Leonard and Ida Orange.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Mason Kent Smith; infant daughter, Patricia Smith; son-in-law, Richard L. Shaver; sisters and brothers-in-law, Christine and Hubert Surface, Robert R. Smith, Dorothy and Claude Copley, Ruby and Ervin Pascoe, Vincent McMahan, Margaret and Carl Jones, Mary and Lois Conner; brothers and sisters-in-law, infant, George Albert Orange, William and Nancy Orange, James Orange, Leonard Orange; numerous nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her daughter, Myrtle Yvonne Shaver; sons, James A. Smith, Michael G. Smith; granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Deborah and Billy Smith, Rachel and Shane Parson; great grandsons and great granddaughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Brandy Smith, Kenneth and Trisha Smith, Jesse Parson; eight great great grandchildren; sister, Carnelia Smith; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charlie and Mattie Orange, Robert and Joanne Orange, Lois Horne; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2016 in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. David Hurd and the Rev. Jimmie Lee Price officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., SW, Blacksburg, VA.
