Smith, Patricia Gathercole

Patricia Ann Gathercole Smith (Critter), age 49 of Montgomery County went to be with the Lord on December 9, 2022, after a long fight with cervical cancer. She was born on October 26, 1973 to Charles and Rose Mary Gathercole.

Patricia was preceded in death by her mother, Rose Mary Gathercole; grandfather, Charles Gathercole, Jr.; brother, Charles Douglas Gathercole, Jr.; and grandson, Jeremiah Grayson Ward. She is survived by her grandmother, Ruth Gathercole; father, Charles Douglas Gathercole; husband, Freddy Smith; brother, Douglas Gathercole and wife, Michelle Gathercole; sister, Kimberly Gathercole; daughters, Brittany Simone (Terry Simone, Jr.), Candace Bean (Brian Hall), and Breanna Foutz (Jacob Foutz); son, Michael Bean; grandchildren, LeAndra, Georgia, Aleyah, Elijah, Brayden, Rivar, Kensley and Journey; niece, Anabelle and nephew, Hadyn.

Patricia was a CNA for several years, she also attended Gateway Baptist Church for several years. The family would like to give special thanks to Good Samaritan Hospice, especially her nurses, Brittany Noll and Morganne McDowell and Horne Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Open Door Baptist Church at 3995 Roanoke Street, Christiansburg, VA 24073
