Smith, Mary Ward

Mary Ward Smith, 68, of Pilot, entered into her heavenly home, Sunday, November 2, 2008, at Heritage Hall Health Care. She was born in West Virginia on July 15, 1940 to the late James Oakey and Anna Marie Ward. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stancel Grayton Smith and her daughter, Melanie Southern. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Sandy Smith of Jacksonville, N.C. and Rexella and William Holmes of Riner; sons and daughter-in-law, James Grayton Smith of Floyd and Jared and Sandra Smith of Willis; sister, Alma Kemp of El Paso, Texas; brother, Jake Ward of West Virginia; twelve grandchildren, Felicity and Phoebe Holmes, Joseph Lawson, Ashley, Matthew and Samuel Hicks, Megan and Morgan Smith, Anthony, Travis, Savannah and Tucker Southern. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lee Sarver officiating. Interment will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery, Norris Run. Friends may call any time after 12 noon Monday, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
