Smith, Linda Joyce

Linda Joyce Smith, 62, of Brickyard Road at Pembroke, departed this life Sunday March 11, 2007 at Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg. Born in Giles County on September 16, 1944 she was a daughter of the late Clarence Houston and Elsie Mae Sadler Gautier.

She had been employed in the housekeeping department at VPI.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Leon Niece and Harvey Smith, a daughter Angela Hetherington, a grandson Joshua Hetherington, two sisters Betty Nelson and Sue Hale.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sons Eddie Niece of Radford and Timmy (Theresa) Niece of Pearisburg; two daughters Sandra Strickland (Michael) of Goldbond and Missy Dodson (Jermire) of Goldbond; a brother Clarence William (Bonnie) Gautier of Pembroke; three sisters Mary Atkins, Marie (Nettie) Wilson and Brenda Hodge (Billy) Hodge all of Pearisburg and seven grandchildren Trista Niece, Michael Strickland, Jr., Angela Summers, Alisha Coleman, Lee Strickland, Summer Dodson, Kelsey Strickland.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 PM in The Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following in East End Cemetery in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
