Smith, Lauren P.

Lauren P. Smith, of Richmond, Va., died Thursday October 4, 2007 at Blacksburg, Va. Lauren was a cadet in the Army ROTC program at Virginia Tech University and a soldier in the Virginia National Guard.

She is survived by many who loved her, including her parents, Susan and Michael; stepmother, Teresa; stepsister, Amber; grandparents, Elizabeth Perkins and Luther and Paige Smith; godparents, Barbara and Derek Abbott; uncles, Robert Brant Mark and Blair; aunts, Linda, Karen, Julie and Molly; a cousin and a nephew.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2007, 12 noon, at Bliley’s Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Road. Interment will be at Dale Memorial Park.

A scholarship fund has been established in Lauren’s name in the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets. Checks may be made payable to Virginia Tech Foundation, with the memo notation on the check identifying VTCC “Lauren Smith Fund” and mailed to Virginia Tech, University Development (0336), Blacksburg, Va. 24061, Attn: Corps of Cadets / Lauren Smith Fund.
