Smith, Jr., Arnold Jordan (A.J.)

Arnold Jordan “A.J.” Smith, Jr., 76 of Pulaski died Friday Morning November 6, 2015. He was born on July 5, 1939 in Pulaski, and was the son of the late Lettie Sheppard Smith and Arnold Jordan Smith, Sr..

A.J. and Pat celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past July, and this year marked their 50th year in business as a CPA in Pulaski. A.J. was an active member of the Jaycees and the Pulaski County Republican Party for many years, and a dedicated public servant, having been appointed to serve on both the State Board of Corrections and the Pulaski County Electoral Board. He was the proprietor of multiple businesses in the county, including his accounting practice, a furniture and appliance business he ran with his father, and Pulaski Motor Company.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Lambert Smith of Pulaski: two sons; Arnold Jordan “Jay” Smith, III and his wife Sandra Kay Smith of Blacksburg, Aaron Jerome Smith and his spouse Dr. V. R. Hayes of Pulaski; a sister, Peggy Jane Smith-Hite and her husband Ralph of Stephens City; three grandsons, Zachary Smith, Nathan Smith and Joshua Smith.

Funeral services will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m. at Seagle Funeral Home with Sam McCracken and Ray Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
