Alfred L. Smith Jr., 58, of Callands, was called to join God’s other angels in Heaven on Tuesday, May 17, 2011. He was born on November 10, 1952. He was predeceased by his father, Alfred L. Smith Sr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Myra Browning Smith, of Callands, Va.; his son, Alfred L. Smith III and wife, Terri, of Floyd, Va.; grandson, Trevor Lewis Smith, of Floyd, Va.; mother, Pearl R. Smith, of Christiansburg, Va.; sister, Brenda S. Martin and husband, Bobby; and brothers, Joey and Matt Smith, both of Christiansburg, Va.
