Smith, Janie Esterline

Janie Esterline Smith, formerly of Wilson Street, Pembroke,VA, went to be with her Lord Sunday, February 10, 2019 in under the care of Centra Health Hospice and Fairmont Crossing in Amherst with her family near.

Born in Kotz, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Elbert Lee Keffer and Minnie Exie Martin. She was married to Willie “Buzz” Smith Jr. She was proud to have graduated a Corncutter in 1945 and was a lifelong member of Pembroke Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, a daughter Patricia Ann Smith, and sister Lorene Meadows.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters and sons-in-law Linda and Bill Calhoun of Madison Heights, Virginia and Wanda and Dennis Arner of Richmond,Virginia; Grandchildren Garth and Erin Calhoun, Benjamin and Stephanie Arner, and Melinda and Chris Crawford, Great-Grandchildren Grady Calhoun, Cannen Arner, Grant Arner, Katelyn Crawford, and Tanner Crawford, Brothers Lane Keffer and Loraine of Pearisburg, Virginia, and Martin Keffer and Donna of Newport; Sisters Mary Katherine and Don Williams of Bluefield, Virginia, and Marian Love Eppard of Ruckersville, Virginia.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at 11:30 AM in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow Street, Pembroke with Pastor Gary Poff officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 11:00 AM until 11:30 am. Burial will follow at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg, Virginia.
