Smith, Gliss

Gliss Smith, 49, of Blacksburg, died Thursday, February 7, 2008, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. She was born in the Philippine Islands on May 20, 1958, to the late Demetrio Pimentel Sr. and Concepcion Estandian.

She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was a Literacy Volunteer, and a strong presence in the Blacksburg Travel Soccer Community as well as AAU basketball.

She is survived by her husband, Ed Smith, of Blacksburg; two sons, Dehmeh Smith, a student at Blacksburg High School, Geinda Smith, a student at Blacksburg Middle School; sisters and brothers, Demetrio Pimentel, Jr., Cynthia Pimentel-Tanagon, Celso Pimentel, Arlene Pimentel-Pajanostan, and Dante Pimentel; and many loving in-laws and family members and friends in the United States and abroad.

A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 12 noon Wednesday, February 13, 2008, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father James Arsenault officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Literacy Volunteers of the New River Valley, 195 West Main St., Christiansburg, Va. 24073.
