Freda Mavis Burns Smith, 94, of Radford, and formerly of Hines, W.Va., homemaker, died on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, in Radford. She was a member of Hines Baptist Church for 65 years, where she taught the women’s Sunday school class and Bible School.

Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2011, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Rainelle, W.Va., with services following at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Wallace Memorial Cemetery in Clintonville, W.Va.

Freda was born on November 15, 1916, in Progress, W.Va., (Braxton County) to Vera and Ed Burns. Mrs. Smith, the widow of Walter Smith, leaves two sons, Harold Smith and his wife, Mary, of Millington, Tenn., and Lawrence Smith and his wife, Thelma, of Milner, Ga.; two daughters, Judith Hagan, of Hiram, Ga., and Nadine Crist and her husband, Buddy, of Radford; a sister, Margie Johnson, of Jacksonville, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 24 greatgrandchildren; and nine greatgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Jim Burns, Kessel Burns and Paul Burns; a granddaughter, Renee Crist Sheffield; and a greatgranddaughter, Courtney Smith.
