Smith, Frank Thomas

Frank Thomas Smith, 90, of Shawsville, VA, went home to be with our Lord on Thursday, January 16, 2020. He was born December 23, 1929 to the late William and Martha Smith of Ringgold, VA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (Young) of almost 59 years, his son Carl, sister Ora Brammer, and brothers Larry, Rawley, and William “Junior” Smith.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his daughters Shirley (Mike) Queen of Gastonia, NC, Janice (Dave) Chumbley and son Ronald (Pamela) Smith and daughter-in-law Mary Smith all of Christiansburg, VA; grandchildren Dale (Jennifer) Smith, Katie and Megan Smith, Hannah Queen and great grandson, Cody Smith. He is also survived by his brother John “Johnny” (Lessie) Smith of Gretna, VA as well as many nieces and nephews including special nephew Jerry (Sally) Brammer.

He retired from the Radford Arsenal (Hercules) after 22 years of service. He enjoyed gardening and playing and listening to gospel music.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 19, 2020 from 5-7:00pm at Horne Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, January 20, 2020 at 11:00am at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronald Smith and Rev. Ronald Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
