Smith, Eldridge Herman

Eldridge Herman Smith, age 86, of Christiansburg died, Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Giles County, Virginia on June 8, 1928.

He was preceded in death by his father, William McKinley Smith, mother, Leah Mary Thompson Griffin and stepfather Earl Griffin, daughter, Lorraine, son, Earl, two sisters and one brother, son-in-law, Lynn Roach. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved helping everyone he could. He loved traveling and camping until health would not allow him to.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Smith, of Christiansburg, daughter and son-in-law, Mary Roach-Anderson and husband Greg, of Roanoke, sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby Smith and wife Brenda, of Pearisburg, Herman Smith and wife Ruth, of Riner, grandchildren, Andrew, Jeremy, Michelle, Meredith, Zachary, great-grandchildren, Ariel, Amber, Shawn, Tiffany, Madison, Carrington, Grayson, Hudson, Drew, Blake, Brandon, and Chris.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 1:00 pm in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chuck Pauley and Rev. Shahn Wilburn officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Friday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home 150 Country Club Dr. SW, Blacksburg.
