Smith, Dorothy Whitaker

Dorothy Whitaker Smith, age 75, of Blacksburg died, Sunday, January 8, 2017, at Heritage Hall.

She was born in Montgomery Co., VA on September 6, 1941 to the late Mark and Rushia Doss Whitaker. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rebecca (Rocky) Hughes.

She is survived by her husband, Andrew (Eddie) Smith; daughters and son in law, Tammie Hixon of Blacksburg, Anita and Glenwood Cecil of Hiwassee; son, Eddie Smith of Blacksburg; grandchildren, Micah Hixon, Brandon Cecil, Bryan Cecil, Brittany Smith, Jarrett Smith, Megan Hughes, sisters and brother in law, Charlotte and Gene Hale of Blacksburg, Kathleen Grubb of Blacksburg.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery, Norris Run. The family will receive friends from 12-2:00 pm Thursday prior to the service at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr. S.W. Blacksburg, VA.
