Smith, David Burmy

David Burmy Smith, 73, of Willis went home to be with the Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 8, 2008.

He was a member of New Harvest Ministries Church in Willis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Goldie (Joan) Smith, parents, Benjamin Franklin and Erie Carroll Smith, grandson, Dennis Smith, and two brothers, James Smith and Alfred Leonard.

He is survived by five children and their spouses, Rosa Lee and Doug Akers, of Princeton, W.Va., Ronald and Debi Smith, of Elliston, Rene and Leonard Scarberry, of Willis, Rosemary and Tony Parker, of Elliston, Bobby and Robin Smith, of Dublin; twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; sister, Sarah Carroll; sister-in-law, Phyllis Shupe, of Bluewell, W.Va.; brother-in-law, Johnny Hudgins, Montcalm, W.Va.; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 12, 2008, at New Harvest Ministries, with Pastor Roy Junior Bentley and Rev. Ken Gray officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, with military graveside rites by Floyd V.F.W. Post #7854 and American Legion Post 127. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Sunday at Gardner Funeral Home, Floyd.
