Smith, Charlie Frank
Charlie Frank Smith, 67, of Blacksburg, passed from his earthly home to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, September 22, 2016. He was born in Blacksburg, Virginia, to the late Walter Kyle and Hattie McDaniel Smith.
He served in the United States Air Force, worked many years at the Lyric and Studio One Theaters, and at Federal Mogul.
He is preceded in death by sister, Barbara Huffman and brother, Andrew Smith, sister-in-law Lana Smith, and brothers-in-law, Steve Walters, Bobby Jackson, Dennis Kelly, and Wayne Huffman.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 45 years, Sandra Walters Smith, four awesome children, Valerie Lynn Smith Crowder (Hank), Walter Frank Smith (Brandi), Charles Lee Smith (Despina), Daniel Wayne Smith (Courtney), and four wonderful grandchildren, Andrea Lowe, Heather Brusino (Joseph), Aaron Lowe, and Chloe Crowder; sisters, Myrtle DiCicco (Chico), Edith Kelly, Jane Jackson, Rebecca Thomas (Edward); brothers, Thomas “Tom” Smith, Carlis “Buster” Smith (Loretta), Robert “Bob” Smith, Roger “Bill” Smith, James “Dick” Smith (Jane); sisters-in-law, Elaine Smith, Shirley Hylton (Jerry), Carol Walters, Kathy Dowdy (Mike), Carol Early (Wayne). Brother-in-law: Curtis “Buddy” Cook (Patsy); numerous nieces and nephews.
The family sends a special thank you to Dr. Harry McCoy, his staff, and the entire medical staff at Lewis Gale Medical Center for their compassionate and loving care. Also, a special thank you for all the prayers and acts of kindness shown to our family by all our family and friends.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2016, at Blacksburg First Wesleyan Church, 1406 Giles Road, Blacksburg with the Rev. John Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 25, at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive SW, Blacksburg, Virginia.
