Carmon Marion Smith, age 79, of Blacksburg died Monday, November 16, 2015, at Lewis-Gale Medical Center. He was born in Newport, VA on January 7, 1936 to the late Spracher Ridgeway and Ella Sue Williams Smith. He was preceded in death by 6 brothers, and 1 sister.

Carmon retired from Radford Army Ammunition Plant with twenty nine years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Davis Smith of Blacksburg; daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Frankie Green of Pembroke; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Terri Smith of Newport, Michael and Sherrie Smith of Blacksburg, Ridge and Toni Smith of Franklin County, VA; sisters and brother-in-law, Maldeen Martin of Newport, Polly Kanode of Salem, Ella Collins of Pearisburg, T. J. and Garland of Dublin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Spracher Smith, Jr. and Jane of Newport, Bobby and Martha Smith of Newport; grandchildren, Crystal and Travis Graham of Blacksburg, Jason and Nicole Green of Christiansburg, Steven Smith of Alabama, Katie Smith of Newport, Shane Green of Pembroke, Andy and Grace Smith of Blacksburg, Kala and Conan Cook of Pearisburg; great-grandchildren, Grady and Maddie Smith of Blacksburg, Sawyer Cook of Pearisburg. Carmon will be dearly missed by his large family, his many friends and his horse family.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 20, 2015 at 11:00 am in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. D O. Weaver, Jr. and Rev. Keith Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in the Clover Hollow Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Gospel Light Baptist Church, 1556 Gallimore Street, Christiansburg, VA 24073 or a church of your choice.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm Thursday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
