Smith, Brian Howard

Brian Howard Smith, 61, of Blacksburg and Eggleston, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2013. Brian was born March 25, 1952 in Oberlin, Ohio to the late Charles C. and Barbara Eileen (Rogers) Smith. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Peggy (Young) Smith of Blacksburg and Eggleston; son and daughter-in-law Trevor & Danielle Gray, Blacksburg; son Tyler Finnegan of Birmingham, MI; brothers and sisters-in-law Charles & Kathy Smith of Oberlin, OH, Brent & Sandra Smith of Oberlin, OH and several nieces and nephews. Brian graduated from the University of Colorado (go Buffaloes!) and eventually settled in Blacksburg, VA, where he was a financial advisor with Edward Jones for 24 years. Brian was active with the Warm Hearth Foundation for many years and recently enjoyed his membership with the Pearisburg Lions Club. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Warm Hearth Foundation, 2603 Warm Hearth Drive, Blacksburg, VA 24060. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 6, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg, VA. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 11:00 am at Blacksburg Christian Church, Blacksburg, with a reception to follow at The Inn at Virginia Tech.
