Brenda Gayle Eaton Smith, 67, of Rich Creek, passed away, Sunday, March 13, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at her home. Born, April 19, 1948 at Pearisburg, she was the daughter of Emory Lee Eaton of Rich Creek, and the late Mildred Louise Riggins Eaton. She was Co-Owner of Smith Valley Meats in Rich Creek, VA.

Brenda was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rich Creek for over 40 years where she was Choir Director and Church Clerk. She was also a member of the Rich Creek Quota Club and the Narrows VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Most of all Brenda loved her family.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gregory Eaton, sister, Carolyn Markle, son in law, Gerard Luck, brother in law, Larry Markle, sister in law, Dreama Eaton, and her mother and father in law, Walter and Beatrice Dent Smith.

Survivors include her loving husband of 48 years, Garrett Dale Smith; son, Jeffrey Bryan Smith and wife Tammy of Rich Creek; daughter, April Smith Luck of Roanoke; brother, Gary L. Eaton and wife Marsha of Rich Creek; grandchildren, Megan, Gregory and Emmy Smith and Aiden Luck; brothers-in-law, Mike Smith and wife Teresa of Rich Creek, Walter E. Smith of Smith Mountain Lake, and David Smith of Columbia, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Marion Eaton of Rich Creek; several nieces; and nephews.

Funeral Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Rich Creek with the Rev. Jim Pickett and Pastor Jason Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Rich Creek, VA. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until time of the services, Wednesday at the church.

The family would like to thank Medi-Hospice of Blacksburg for their wonderful care during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations of sympathy be made to the First Baptist Church of Rich Creek – PO Box 307, Rich Creek, VA 24147.
