Smith, Alfred Lewis

Alfred Lewis Smith, 81, of Christiansburg, Va., departed this life to be with Jesus on Monday, May 17, 2010, at his home with his loving family by his side. Preceding him in death was his father, Herman L. Smith; mother, Cornie Maxey Smith Lucas; and brother, David H. Smith.

Surviving him are his loving and faithful wife of 60 years, Pearl R. Smith; three sons, Alfred and Myra Smith, and Joseph and Matthew Smith; daughter, Brenda and Robert Martin; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at the Horne Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 20, 2010, at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, Christiansburg, Va., with Mr. Robert Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
