Paul Leslie Slusser, 85, of Blacksburg, died Sunday, January 20, 2008, at Montgomery Regional Hospital.

He was born in Blacksburg on July 25, 1922, to the late Pascal Joe “Pat” and Annie Foster Cromer Slusser. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Joe Slusser, Dennis Slusser and Erno Slusser. Paul served in World War II where he received the Purple Heart and was also in the Korean War in the United States Army and was in the VFW for over 50 years.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Kirby Slusser, Blacksburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Geraldine “Deen” and James Chambers, Hayden, Idaho; a son and daughterin-law, Howard L. and Billie S. Slusser, Pembroke, Va.; sister, Trudy and husband, Juel Albert, of Long Shop; sister, Margaret “Maggie” Harris, Blacksburg; a brother, John and wife, Jean Slusser, Blacksburg; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 24, 2008, at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor David Ansley officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. Following the graveside service, the family and friends will gather at 611 Montgomery Street, Blacksburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blacksburg Rescue Squad, 200 Progress Street, N.E., Blacksburg, Va. 24060. Friends may call anytime Wednesday, January 23, 2008, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, S.W., Blacksburg, Va.
