Sleasman, Ginny Conley Wood
Della Virginia Conley Wood Sleasman, 80 of Narrows went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at Heritage Hall Blacksburg. She was born in Giles County on December 28, 1941, and was the daughter of the late Harless E. and Mary Frances Conley. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Dee Wood; her second husband, Pastor William Sleasman; and a brother, Phillip Conley.
From an early age, Ginny loved the Lord and served Him in many capacities, including youth leadership, Christian education, choirs, and local missions work. She especially enjoyed working with the Bible Bus program in Giles County. Her happiness was in helping others. She worked as a nurse for forty years at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville and at clinical practices in Charlottesville and Jennerstown, Pennsylvania. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Ginny will be dearly missed by her family and many special friends.
Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Sandra Wood and fiancée’ Larry Kates of Ruckersville, Virginia, Stacey Wood Dudley of Ruckersville, Virginia; four grandchildren, Ashley Shifflett and husband Steven; Phillip Harlow and wife, Amber, Logan May and husband, Josh; Bryce Gibson and wife, Taylor; a brother, Lockard Conley and wife Gloria of Tazewell; eight great-grandchildren; Aubrey, Wyatt, Brooke, and Blaire Shifflett, Brylee and Braxton May, Ava Harlow and Annalyse Gibson, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 12 PM at the Shrader Cemetery in Wolf Creek, near Narrows with Rev. Dennis Kidd and Gary Lester officiating. The family request that family and friends gather at her home after the service for fellowship.
