amem_br-sunset.jpgHerman Lonzo Slaughter, 91, passed away Thursday March 18, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Crokett and Mary Smith Slaughter, wife of 66 years, Lula Izola Hollandsworth Slaughter, five sisters, Ocie Hollandsworth, Ella Duncan, Ollie Hollandsworth, Gerthie Hylton, and Eva Higgs, and brother, Lowman Slaughter.

He is survived by; daughter, Rachel Marshall of Christiansburg; son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Yvonne Slaughter of Willis; grandchildren, Tammy Costigan and husband Scott of Christiansburg, Sonya Gautier and husband Tony of Pembroke, Joshua Slaughter of Roanoke; great-grandchildren, Seth Gautier of Pembroke, Trista Costigan, Tyler Costigan, both of Christiansburg; sisters, Verlie Hollandsworth, Mabel Hollandsworth, both of Willis; sister-in-law, Trudy Slaughter of Christiansburg; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was held on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Kenneth Hopkins and Elder Tommy Pegram officiating. Interment followed in Captain George Quesenberry Cemetery. Family received friends from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, March 20 at Maberry Funeral Home.
