Skeens, Clara M.
Clara Mae Hill Skeens, 68, of Rich Creek, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the Riverview Nursing Home, Rich Creek, where she had been a resident since 2004. Born January 18, 1945 at Princeton, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Arnold Mason and Virginia Louise Crawford Hill. She was a graduate of Athens High School. Clara had worked for several years at the Princeton Memorial Hospital; she later worked 25 years for the Giles County School System until illness forced her into retirement. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Arvin Lee Hill. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Ronald D. Skeens; two sons, David Keith Skeens and wife, Heather, of Riner, Va. and Timothy Lee Skeens and wife, Alicia, of Red House, W.Va.; brother, Burton Hill and wife, Phyllis, of Gastonia, N.C.; sisters, Alliefair Ayers of Christiansburg, Va. and Lexie Comer of Elgood, W.Va.; two half-brothers, Charles Hill and wife, Linda, and James Hill and wife, Daphne, all of Princeton, W.Va.; grandchildren, Austin David, Casey Marie and Justin Lee Skeens. Funeral Services will be at noon, Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church at Rich Creek, with Pastor Doug Hyndrich and Pastor Aubrey Whitlow officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Rich Creek. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of the service at the church, Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations of sympathy be made to the First United Methodist Church of Rich Creek, Building Fund-108 Old Virginia Avenue, Rich Creek, VA 24147 or to the Riverview Nursing Home, Resident Fund, 120 Old Virginia Avenue, Rich Creek, VA 24147.
