Margaret Virginia Skaggs, 86, of Dublin, died Wednesday November 1, 2006 in Pulaski Community Hospital after a year struggle of many illnesses.

She was born November 26, 1919 in Greenville, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late Emma Surber Skaggs and Dr. George W. Skaggs. Miss Skaggs was a long-time member of the Dublin Presbyterian Church.

She attended University of Virginia School of Nursing and Radford College where she received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and taught second grade at the former Claremont Elementary School in Pulaski for over 30 years.

She was preceded in death by a brother, George W. Skaggs, Jr.; a sister, Dorothy Skaggs Anders; and a nephew, W. Woodrow “Woody” Anders, Jr.; and special pets, Mitzi, Jason and Alex. She is survived by a niece, Leigh Ann Bush and her husband William of Charlottesville; and a nephew Robert Skaggs and his wife Susan of Vienna, Va.; greatnephews, Grayson and Bailey Bush, Mark Skaggs, and greatniece, Sarah Skaggs; and sister-in-law, Guelda Skaggs of Roanoke. Also survived by several cousins and many dear friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Dublin Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Susan Cyre officiating. Interment will follow in the New Dublin Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Visiting will be anytime Thursday after 4 p.m. at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Flowers will be appreciated, but for those who wish, they may make memorial contributions to the Dublin Presbyterian Church or to the Pulaski County S.P.C.A. in memory of Miss Skaggs.
