Sively, Imogene Shumate

Imogene Shumate Sively, 92 of Rich Creek passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 14th, 2012 at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg. She was born in Giles County on May 31st, 1920 and was the daughter of the late Edgar B. and Frances Lillian Moses Shumate. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Ross Sively; a daughter, Sally Ann Sively; a nephew, Charles Sively; and several brothers and sisters. Imogene was an avid golfer, traveled extensively both in the United State and abroad with her husband on business, and loved to play Bridge. She never met an animal she didn’t love, taking in many pets, and lovingly cared for each one of them. Left to cherish her memory are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends. At Imogene’s request, she will be cremated. Family and friends will gather for a memorial service Sunday at 2 PM at the First Baptist Church in Rich Creek with Pastor Jason Smith officiating.
