Sisson, Robert Marshall

Robert Marshall Sisson, 83, of Rustburg, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2007. He was the husband of the late Nancy Jackson Sisson.

Born in Montgomery County, September 3, 1923, he was the son of the late Robert Madison Sisson and the late Ora Jewell Sisson. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Annabelle Vaden and Dana Hall; and two brothers, Warren H. Sisson and Beverly D. Sisson.

Robert was a member of Hyland Heights Baptist Church and he had retired from the Norfolk and Western Railroad after 38 years of service. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He loved to hunt and fish and he was an avid beekeeper.

He is survived by his son, S. Dean Sisson and his wife, Kim, of Lynchburg; his daughter, Karen S. Thomas and her husband, Bill, of Casa Grande, Ariz.; his grandson, Robert M. Sisson, II of Lynchburg; his sister, Roma Williams of Christiansburg; and his special friend, Louise Shank of Roanoke. Dean and Karen really appreciate and thank Robert’s neighbors, friends and especially his daughter-in-law, Kim, for helping him so he could stay at home as long as possible.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2007, from Whitten Timberlake Chapel. Entombment will follow in the Fort Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum with military honors by American Legion Post 16.
