Simpson Jr., Joseph Jessee

Joseph (Joe) Jessee Simpson, Jr., 78, died Monday, June 4, 2007 in the Radford Rehabilitation Center, following a long illness. Born June 15, 1928 in Hot Coal, W.Va., he was the son of the late Joseph Simpson, Sr. and Fallie Mae Whitt Simpson.

Mr. Simpson was a W.Va. Coal miner for 35 years.

Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, Chris and Marsha Simpson of Christiansburg and Gary Simpson of Hampton, Ga.; one daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Russell Berry of LaGrange, Ga.; two brothers, Freddie Simpson of Sophie, W.Va. and Albert Simpson of Longwood, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Savanna Simpson and Marissa Simpson of Christiansburg, Jill Turner of LaGrange, Ga., Stephanie Mains of Many, La., Rhonda Simpson of Hampton, Ga.; Jennifer Simpson of Ohio and Gary Lee Simpson of Ohio.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at the Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2007 at the family cemetery in Bud, W.Va.
