Simpkins, Willard Basil

Willard Basil Simpkins, 69, of Christiansburg, died on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 in Carilion New River Medical Center. Born on April 20, 1938 in Floyd County, he was the son of the late Marion Jackson Simpkins and Roxie Phillips Simpkins. He was also preceded in death by his three brothers, Erdie, Maurice, and Glenn Simpkins; and a sister, Nelva Turpin.

Surviving are a brother, Robert Lee Simpkins and his wife, Janice of Christiansburg; two sisters, Opie Cox of York, Pa and Ann Turpin and her husband, Roger of Christiansburg. Roger was a special brother-in-law and was very close to Willard. Also special friends, Tony Troxel and Roy Redd; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his many friends and family.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at the DeVilbiss Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Buford LinKour officiating. Interment will follow in Captain George Quesenberry, Floyd County. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at the DeVilbiss Funeral Home, Radford.
