Phyllis Ann Simpkins, 74, of Pearisburg, departed this life Saturday morning, March 2, 2013 in the care of Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek. Born in Pearisburg on February 1, 1939 she was a daughter of the late Clyde William and Laura Katherine Tickle Tabor. She was also preceded in death by her son Gregory Little and her husband James Simpkins.

Phyllis was a graduate of Pembroke High School Class of 1957 and had earned an Associate Degree from New River Community College. She was retired from Virginia Tech with twenty-five years service in the Bakery Department.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter and son-in-law Linda Ann and Bryan French of Peterstown; her granddaughter Schallyne Stone of North Carolina; her great-grandson Nathan Robertson; her step-grandchildren whom she dearly loved, Joshua, Tyler, and Brooke French.

Memorial services will be conducted Monday at 7:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with speaker Richard Csanyi. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the services.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that because of Phyllis’s love for animals contributions be made to The Giles County Humane Society or the local charity of choice.
