simpkins_lee_ransomLee Ransom Simpkins, 82, of Radford, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2011. He was a member of Cornersview Pentecostal Holiness Church and retired from Lynchburg Foundry with over 33 years of service. He was a United States Army veteran having served during World War II. In October 2010, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Reba Harrell Simpkins. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Rita Simpkins Dobbins and Carl Hamblin, of Christiansburg; two sons and daughters-inlaw, Jerry and Suzanne Simpkins, of Rural Hall, N.C., and Donnie and Marsha Simpkins, of Radford; six brothers, George, Joe, Avery, Elwood, J.D. and Brady Simpkins, all of Radford; two sisters, Judy Brightwell and Taxi Fagg, both of Radford; seven grandchildren; 11 greatgrandchildren; and one greatgreat-grandchild. The family would like to thank the staff of Highland Ridge in Dublin. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, March 27, 2011, at 3 p.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with the Rev. Frankie Graham and the Rev. Jim Walker officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin where members of VFW Post #776 will conduct Military Graveside Rites. The family will receive friends on Sunday prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
