Simpkins, Joyce Layne

Joyce Layne Simpkins, 80, of Radford, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013. She was a member of First Baptist Church and retired teacher and principal. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert (Skeeter) Harrell Simpkins. Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Danny Joe Layne and Doris BeCraft Layne of Wytheville; sister, Jean Layne Blankenship of Pulaski; a nephew and his wife, Damon Layne and Rhonda Holston Layne and their children, Megan, Ashley and Morgan, of Wytheville; niece, Danette Layne of Roanoke and her daughter and husband, Chalee Layne Juba and Nicholas Juba and their daughter Laci Mae Lyons, of Roanoke; her Georgian family, George Togonidze and wife Nino and their children, David Albert and Demetre of Tibilise; dearest friends, Judy Malcolm Barr and Annie Laurie Maiden James; and a multitude of friends, neighbors and colleagues. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 12:00 noon at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Dr. Paul Lane officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant UMC Cemetery in Wytheville. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
