Simpkins, Christaleen Viers

Christaleen Viers Simpkins, 93, of Radford, Va., passed away Sunday, January 16, 2011, at Radford Nursing and Rehab. She was a member of the Radford Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lemon Simpkins, and four children. Survivors include three daughters, Julia Brightwell and special friend, Randy Phillips, Taxi Fagg, and Eva Odell and her husband, Tas; seven sons, George T. Simpkins and his wife, Malieta, Lee R. Simpkins, Joe Simpkins and his wife, Sue, Avery Simpkins and his wife, Shirley, Elwood Simpkins, J. D. Simpkins, and Brady Simpkins and his wife, Judith; sisters, Frances and Evelyn; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, January 20, 2011, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with the Rev. James Walker officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin, Va. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
