simmons cheryl pearmanCheryll Pearman Simmons, age 65, of Christiansburg died Friday, September 13, 2013, at New River Valley Medical Center surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Christiansburg, VA on January 7, 1948 to the late James Delmar and Beatrice Barnett Pearman. She was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Gary Bishop. She was a lifelong member of Prices Fork United Methodist Church and had been President of the United Methodist Women. She retired from Virginia Tech after many years of service. Cheryll was a past President of the American Business Womens Association, and a member of the P. Buckley Moss Society. Along with her husband, L.T., they received the VFCCE Chancellor’s Award for leadership in Philanthrophy from New River Community College. She is survived by her husband, L.T. Simmons, sister, Scarlet P. Bishop, of Prices Fork, brother and sister-in-law, James D. and Sandra Pearman, of Fairlawn, two nieces, Karey Gray and husband, Dean, Sarah Pearman, nephew, Chris Bishop and wife, Karen, great niece,Kelsey Bishop, great nephews, Justin Bishop and Zachary Gray, many cousins, special friend and caregiver, Clara “Happy” Tolbert. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 1:00pm in the Prices Fork United Methodist Church with the Pastor Gustavo Segovia and Pastor Emory Tarpley officiating. Interment will follow in the Hickman Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8:00pm Monday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
