Simmons, Betty Jo Custer
Betty Jo Custer Simmons, 84, of Christiansburg, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at Heritage Hall. She was born on September 1, 1935 in Montgomery County.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Simmons Sr.; father, Joseph M. Custer Sr.; and mother, Dora G. Custer. She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Marie Simmons; son, James H. Simmons Jr.; sister, Shirley Havens (Johnny), all of Christiansburg; brother, Joseph M. Custer Jr. (Paulette) of Myrtle Beach, SC; sisters-in-law, Anna Mae Saunders, Joan Custer; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Betty was employed by Hill’s Department Store for over 30 years in the toy department, and attended Harbor of Hope Church. She loved her cats and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at 2 p.m. in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, with Pastor Richard Kingrea officiating.

I worked authOrity at Hills. Not only was she a hard worker but she was one of the sweetest people I have ever meet. The other thing about Betty I will never forget is her strong faith and love for the Lord.

I worked with Betty at Hills she was one of most loving an careing person I have ever known. She loved the Lord,an share her love for him with others. You will be missed here on earth but I know God has another Angle .
