Simmerman, John Robinson

John Robinson Simmerman, 91, of Radford, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2016. He was a member of Anchor of Hope Presbyterian Church in Max Meadows, VA., and a graduate of VPI.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II and retired from Chrysler Corporation where he worked as an accountant.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Edward Jr. and Miriam Robinson Simmerman; two brothers, Thomas E. Simmerman III and William C. Simmerman; a sister, Nancy Weaver; and a nephew, Ed Weaver.

Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Graham and Martha (Jennie) Simmerman of Radford; 4 nephews, Tommy Weaver, Graham Simmerman, Jr., Walt (Nita) Simmerman, and Don (Anne) Simmerman; 3 nieces, Elizabeth (Walt) Wessell, Ellen Bostic, and Nancy Shumate; and several great nieces and nephews, and a special great niece, Rachel Simmerman.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the Anchor of Hope Presbyterian Church in Max Meadows with the Rev. Walt Simmerman and the Rev. Cindy Privett officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church and also at a luncheon following the service. Interment will follow after the luncheon in East End Cemetery in Wytheville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Anchor of Hope Presbyterian Church, 839 Danner Rd., Max Meadows, VA, 24360.
