Sifford, Nathan Daniel

Nathan Daniel Sifford, 79, of Narrows, Va., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at LewisGale Medical Center, Salem. He was born on February 25, 1931, at Bluefield, W.Va., the son of the late James Augusta and Sadie May Stowers Sifford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Buford Sifford; and a stepmother, Ethel Eaton Sifford. He was a member of Riverview Baptist Church and a member of VFW #6000 in Narrows. Nathan loved to go bowling and hunting. He loved his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was also an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Evelyn Frazier Sifford, of Narrows; two daughters and sons-in-law, Terri and Allen Crawford, of Lindside, W.Va., and Vicki and George Sanders, of Christiansburg; three grandchildren, Katrina Alexander, Wesley Crawford, and Jason Sanders; two greatgrandchildren, Nathan Sanders and Jacob Alexander; two brothers, the Rev. Billy Joe Sifford, of Morristown, Tenn., and Roger Lee Sifford, of Fort Hood, Texas; and one sister, Earlene B. Sifford, of Narrows. Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. on Friday, November 5, 2010, at the Riverview Baptist Church with the Rev. Shahn Wilburn, the Rev. Otuce Huffman and the Rev. Joe Sifford officiating. Military Graveside Rites at Sunrise Cemetery in Rich Creek by Narrows VFW Post #6000, Narrows American Legion Post #68 and Pembroke American Legion Post #311. The family will receive friends during visitation at Riverview Baptist Church on Thursday, November 4, 2010, from 5 to 8 p.m. The family is in the care of A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate, Va.
