Sifford, Merrill Clarence

Merrill Clarence Sifford, 66, of Parrott, Va., passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2010. Born on June 2, 1943, he was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte (Jo) Sifford; and father, Walter Sifford.

He is survived by his mother, Ethel Martin Sifford; brother, Doug Sifford and sister-in-law, Brenda Bainbridge; nephews, Brian, David, and Darrell Sifford; nieces, Michelle Thompson and Angelia Bainbridge; stepchildren, Donna Horton, and Jerry and Timmy Reed; nine greatnieces and nephews; and special friends, Wanda Jones, Annie Whitaker, Shannon Andrews, Bob Alderman, and Charlie and Helen Brown.

He will be sadly missed by many friends in the community and by Radford University.

A special thanks to Good Samaritan Hospice for their help and kindness with Merrill.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2010, at the Parrott Church of God from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2010, at the Parrott Church of God with the Reverend Eddie Dalton and the Reverend James Gholson officiating. Interment will follow at the Sifford Cemetery in Parrott, Va.
